Looking back … A blog is an interesting tool for refection. There were ups and downs, but overall, 2008 was a pretty great year for me. In 2008, I:
- survived the complete and total disappearance of 4 months of blog posts. My new mantra is “back up”!
- attended the NPCG’s amazing Synergy Conference
- had my first article published in PolymerCafe magazine
- started my Studio Snapshot series
- traveled to Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon with my family, and even survived a horseback ride down into Bryce Canyon.
- was featured 3 times on Polymer Clay Daily, a thrill that never ever gets old
- played a lot with silver sheet
- was rejected for both the Bead Dreams and Progress & Possibilities competitions. While rejection is never fun, I am really proud of myself for entering.
- helped organize our guild’s biennial Clay Connection retreat
- sent our daughter off to college
- had a blast in Las Vegas at Clay Carnival
- complained a lot about creative inertia
- made some of my favorite pieces
Moving Forward… I plan to begin as I mean to go along, so today I am going to spend some time in the studio. All I plan to do is clean up, but cleaning in the studio eventually leads to working in the studio. Plus, it’s a mess, and the mess has been there too long and is in no way inspiring.
E heads back to college tomorrow and the public school is back in session on Monday. I am looking forward to the return of my regular schedule and some time alone.
