Making it feel like home

by Libby on September 20, 2006

We finally hung this quilt by Connecticut quilt artist Sandra Scott. I’m excited to discover that she has a website now!

It’s on a wall between the kitchen and the foyer which makes it visible as I come down the stairs and from the kitchen. It’s also placed so it’s right in front of you as you come up from the studio. I love this quilt so much. Just seeing it hanging on the wall makes me happy and makes this house feel so much more like home.

I bought it about 2 years ago at the Guilford Art Center. I saw it in their Holiday Sale and fell in love, but it was pricey so I held off. I regretted not buying it as soon as I came home. A couple of weeks later I got a postcard from the Art Center announcing the closing sale. I called and the quilt was still there! Then I told myself if I didn’t absolutely love it when I laid eyes on it this second time, I wouldn’t buy it. Seeing it again was like a punch in the gut, it speaks to me that much. It feels so good to have it hanging where I can see it again.
