Behind
Wow, I am way behind in my blogging. It was that kind of week, busy and slow at the same time. Maybe it’s the post-Thanksgiving let down. I need to start gearing up for Christmas. I’ve got cards to write, gifts to make and shopping to do. The kids have declared themselves officially too old for a photo Christmas card and sadly I have to agree. Still, it was depressing to go to the Hallmark store and buy cards. I found some fun Unicef cards, so at least part of the cost goes to a worthy cause. I think next year I will try to use a Christmas themed photo of my own. My job this year is to take some interesting Christmas & winter macro shots that I can use next year.
I finished my metals class on an up note. The last day I had fun playing with basic fold forming techniques. In it’s simplest form this involves folding a sheet of relatively thin gauge metal, cutting out a shape and hammering repeatedly along one of the edges with a cross peen hammer. By cutting out slender half circles and hammering the outside edge I was able to make a few ruffled leaf shapes. I’ve turned the copper ones I made into earrings. I also did a pair in fine silver. I hammered a bit longer on one of the fine silver shapes and it curled around on itself more. I’m not sure what I’ll do with them as they are oddly mismatched, but I may use them as earrings anyway. I’ll try to take pictures of them as well as some updated studio shots today.

Those sound very interesting, I can’t wait to see the photos. It’s kind of rough when our babies go and get grown up, with ideas and notions of their own. Yet at the same time, it’s exciting and right. Talk about a mixed blessing! The boys will be here in about 10 days. I can’t wait to see them! I am seriously in need of some boy funk!
