Holi-"dazed"

by Libby on December 21, 2006

I’ve been busy with the usual holiday craziness. Sadly, there isn’t the usual amount of anticipation and excitement in the house this year. There’s a lot of “schtuff” going on with family and friends this year that has us worrying and praying. Neither of the girls had a real heart’s desire gift in mind. I feel like we are heading toward Monday in a daze. I am hoping the energy around here picks up when school lets out on Friday. Maybe I should make some Christmas cookies. That always cheers me up.

Decorating a new house for the holidays is always a challenge, but we’ve had some fun with it. We have one of those useless landings over the front door. I haven’t figured out what to do with it permanently. But since there are electrical outlets up there, we put a small lighted christmas tree up there in front of the palladian window. It’s fun. The big tree is in front of the window seat in the den. You can even see it from the road. It’s the first time we’ve ever had to decorate the back side of a tree. Usually we reserve the back of the tree for all the really wierd ornaments. Of course everyone in the family has a different idea of which ornaments are the wierd hide-in-the-back ones.

Since I love making Christmas ornaments and I am sorry I didn’t make any this year, I’ll leave you with a few ornament tutorials. First, here’s one I sent to the Carol Duvall show in 2002. Star Lentil Ornament

Ultralight Snowflakes by Leigh Ross
Santa Bell Ornament by Kris Richards
Bulb Ornament by Lynn Krucke
Gingerbread Ornaments from Polymer Clay Express
Ribbon Candy by Arlene Schiek
