Back & a few photos
I am back from our whirlwind family tour of several colleges in Ohio. I am hoping I can stir up my creativity again. It’s so hard to stop and attend to other business when you’re in the middle of a creative storm. My family is very understanding when the house is messy and dusty, and dinner is takeout, but I am pretty sure they’d draw the line at my opting out of a family trip.
Here are a few photos of some of the results of the “creative storm”. First a pair of earrings. The ear wires (my new favorite shape) are 20 guage argentium silver. I balled the end with my trusty butane torch. I love the shape of this bead and I am definitely going to have to play with this shape some more.
Next a pair of green earrings on a similar earwire shape. The floating free motion of the polymer clay shapes is really fun. The pattern reminds me of tropical fabrics.
I mentioned the other day that I have been exploring ways to make the silver bezel technique I learned from Judy Kuskin work for me. Texture is one of my passions so I have started by playing with texturing the bezels. I am having a blast exploring different ways to texture metal. The frames on the following pendants are textured with simple lines. The first pendant is a large purple and green circle with irridescent flashes of green. It’s an effect that’s really hard to photograph.
The final pendant is my favorite. It’s the prototype for a multi leaf piece that’s been in my head for awhile. Like the previous pendant, there are levels of green irridescent flash and glitter sparkle that just don’t come across in photos.

Very nice. I’ve always thought that if I could figure out my way around a sheet of silver I could really dress up my work with some cool bezels. Seeing your pendants really reinforces that. Someday I will learn!
LOVE the folded earrings!!!!!
The green leaf is mighty nice, too. I want to see the rest of the forest when you bring it to fruition.
Beautiful work Libby! You must be so excited to see what it coming from your efforts. Thanks for sharing.
I love the bezel work — you should post to our yahoo group and maybe re-energize it! I’m just about to finish a Christmas present (embarassed!) present using Judy’s bezels. Your green pendant is amazing!!! regards, nt
