I have been listening to a lot of show tunes in my studio lately and the title of this post keeps echoing in my head like a melody from “A Chorus Line”. Anyway, I am having my gallbladder removed on Thursday. Hopefully that will take care of much of what has been bothering me health-wise. Amazingly, it’s an in and out surgery. Studio work will be on hold, but I’ll be back to it as soon as possible. In the mean time, either I won’t be online at all if I feel really yucky or I may be spending all my waking hours on the computer since I won’t be able to do much else.
My biggest disappointment is that I’ll have to miss the guild meeting on Saturday. I missed last month’s meeting and I am feeling it. It’s really wonderful and energizing to get together with friends and spend hours talking about polymer clay. I really miss it when I have to skip a meeting. I’ve become addicted to that combination of friendship, creative affirmation, inspiration and shared polymer obsession.
Now if only I could figure out how to arrange rides for E on Thursday. Surgery scheduling is apparently a bit like a cable repair appointment. I don’t get to find out the actual time until some time late Wednesday.

Hang in there, I had my gallbladder out about 17 years ago and it was less painful than the attacks I was getting. Plus, you won’t have to worry about what or when your eating
For the first 3-5 days, it’ll feel more “not good” than “actual pain”. But within a couple weeks, you’ll be fine.
PS. Enjoy the time off and the attention
Good Luck, Kim

I had my gall bladder out nine years ago and except for the “too much” anesthesia, it was a snap. Thought I would never wake up completely. I had complained to doctors for over ten visits and one day went online to see if I could find out what was causing my pain. I was shocked to see that exactly the symptoms I had written down had not gotten me an instant diagnosis with three different doctors. After figuring it out myself, having an ultrasound, and getting my gall bladder removed, I have never had another problem! In fact I was back to my old self in three days-although a little sleepy.
The guild members will still be there next month and they will miss you this month. I missed my first meeting last month since our guild was first formed so I am really looking forward to our September meeting.
Just keep a notebook by your bed and jot down all of these ideas that you may not feel like doing something about yet. Look forward to hearing all is well!

Hi Libby, I’m sorry to hear about your health issues but it sounds like having this done will help you feel a whole lot better.
I know how you feel about guild meetings. It bothers me when I have to miss a guild meeting. too.
Sending you healing thoughts! -Karen

Hi Libby,
You’ll be in my thoughts this week. Who knows, you might have some crazy inspiration because of surgery. Aren’t gall bladders slightly pod-shaped? (Ok, don’t go there!)
Sending you healing thoughts too. -Amy

Thanks Amy. So far nothing even vaguely inspirational about gallbladders has occurred to me. Believe me, the thought did cross my mind, but I’m drawing blank! LOL

I hope the surgery goes well and that you are back on your feet in no time! You should meet some of those clay friends for lunch after you’re feeling better. It might take some of the sting out of missing two meetings.

Good luck with the surgery. My mom had hers done a few years ago. Recovery is pretty quick. You still have to take it easy, but laparoscopic surgery is the way to go.
We will miss you at the meeting, but I hope we will see you at the Bead Bazaar…if only for a short time.
Sending healing thoughts and prayers.
(I wonder what we can volunteer you for while you’re away?)

Here’s to a speedy recovery!! Let yourself be pampered for a few days!

This is when you need the webcam. Imagine if you could sit at home and watch the meeting via webcam……that has possibilities, doesn’t it?
Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery!

Hey Libby, I had mine out two years ago and kept the ONE monster stone that had blocked my bile duct. I am still planning on making something clay to focus on the stone It is amazing how they do the surgery now a days. you will be achey the first day and on the road to feeling *normal* fast! Good luck! and ask to have any stones. they are ugly on the outside but sparklie on the inside from the salts.

Take it easy and come back healed and refreshed!
Libby 09.05.07 at 3:35 pm
Thanks everyone! You’re so great! It’s very helpful to hear the affirmation of so many who have been through this. And Kathi, all I can say is “Ew!” LOL I did offer to have the drs wrap it up for my husband since today is his birthday. He wasn’t interested either. hee hee
A webcam meeting would be fun Judy, but I prefer the real thing. It must be the polymer clay fumes.

Just checking back in to see how everything went and how you are feeling Libby. Hope all is well with you.
