Connections

Like many other attendees, I’ve been thinking about Synergy a lot this week. One thing that struck me this morning was how important events like Synergy are for making and/or affirming connections. We are so very lucky to be part of such a warm, welcoming and sharing group. There wasn’t very much time to socialize, but it was still a joy to see old friends and put faces to names I have only known online.

There was a lot of hugging going on that first day, and many exclamations of “Oh, you’re (insert online forum or blog name)!!”

The Teacher Fair was a great opportunity for connections too. I help organize guild workshops when we bring in a teacher every other year for an intensive weekend workshop. Our guild generally only sponsors a big workshop on the years we don’t host our retreat, Clay ConneCTion. I enjoyed the Teacher Fair because it was an opportunity to pick up info about artists who may not be as well known on the polymer clay teaching circuit. With all the info Sharon, our Guild President, and I picked up, it’s going to be very hard to decide who to invite to come to Connecticut in the Spring or Fall of 2009.
