Do you have a dedicated studio/artistic space?
yes
Where is it located?
in the basement
Is it a large or small space?
medium
What medium(s) do you work in? Do you have a separate area for each?
I work in Polymer Clay and often combine it with Sterling Silver. I don’t have separate areas yet. I had to set up my newer workspace very quickly and nothing is finished yet. Still a lot of storage room needed.
What one word would you use to describe your studio?
chaos (most of the pics I sent were taken immediately after moving into the new studio - everything neat and tidy)
What do you think is the best feature of your studio?
Nobody except me uses this room - it’s all mine - and it’s finally cat hair free
What would you change if you could?
I would buy some new closets, shelfs and tables if I could afford it. As I said it’s quickly put together, not really planned. I’m still thinking about reorganizing it.
Describe the usual state of your work table?
Well, most of the time I first have to clean up the mess of the last creating session before I start to work. So things lying around everywhere is the usual state I’d say.
Does your work table face out into the room or toward the wall?
It faces the wall. That’s not how I want it to be. Before I moved to the basement my table faced the window and I had a nice view to the front lawn…no I’m in the basement and there is no daylight anymore. Actually I’m thinking about rearranging the room once more to have a table facing the room and not the wall
What’s one drawback of your studio/artistic space?
No daylight
Do you have an idea wall or inspiration board?
I had one in my old studio. but it’s still packed….
Do you listen to music in your studio? What kind?
oooh yes!… i-tunes is playing all the time for me. Mostly soul, jazz, blues - I’m not the top of the pops person.
Do you display your own work in your studio? Other artists’ work?
Unfortunately I have no room for that - but someday I will. Always wanted to have a little display cabinet…
If you’d like to see your studio featured in a future Studio Snapshot, email me through the contact page, and I’ll send you the interview questions.
