Distracting gadget and some metal work

by Libby on May 6, 2008

I have a serious weakness for gadgets. My dad’s a bit the same. (that’s one of my excuses: the weakness is genetic, LOL) I have loads to do this week, and I am letting myself be distracted by my new toy, an Apple iphone. This is my Mother’s Day gift, which I begged them to give me early. Techie toys reduce me to a childish state of excitement. I haven’t done much with it beside downloading my itunes library and setting up some of my preferences. It’s really amazing though, beautifully designed and easy to use.

So much fun!

My box of wire finally came.

I made some bangles. M tells me I am doing too much of the hammered metal thing.  What can I say?  If I am in a rut, I’m okay with it.  I love the noise the bracelets make when I wear them. And I also made a few silver bezels to be filled with polymer clay.

If I can tear myself away from the electronic fun, I might actually get to that soon.  Probably not.  It’s much more intimidating to do the polymer part lately.  I’m not sure why that is though.

love the bangles. I bet they make pretty music when you wear them :)

Congrats on the iPhone. Love that you’ve already created a tag for it on your blog!

The bangles are pretty cool, too. I haven’t worn a pile of bracelets in a long time (hands are too darned fat to squish through most of them), but I remember the sound of jingling from the 80’s, when I’ll admit I was a bit more of a slave to fashion than I am today. Hmmm…. perhaps that’s why I’m still addicted to dangly earrings? Do we never really grow up?

As for the polymer portion of the bezels, well… wish I had some advice, but since my polymer creations have been kind of sporadic lately (and the ones I have come up with haven’t been terribly inspired), I’m keeping quiet. Perhaps I’ll just sit here & knit a sock. =)

LOVE the bezels!!! I think the rectangular one is my favorite. Makes me think of Art Deco light fixtures.

Whew, an Iphone (*envy mode on*) - would really like to have one as well, but in germany apple sell them only through one mobile phone provider which is not mine, and I don’t want to switch. I hope they’ll open the market soon. (*envy mode off*)

Nice bezels by the way

I also love the bezels! I would love so much to learn how to make those but am too busy right now to take the time. They will look beautiful filled with polymer clay!
