Do you have a dedicated studio/artistic space? yes I do. at first I did not have a room of my own but after collecting too many supplies me and my DH decided that we need to put it all somewhere… so we strted making room in the storage room for craft supplies.. well that was the beginning but then i needed more and more space/somewhere to work quietly/place to showcase finish goods for customers etc… lucky my I have a supportive husband and we took all the stuff that was storaged and made the room a studio for me. what a nice sound- “MY OWN STUDIO”.
Where is it located? at the lower floor of the house
Is it a large or small space? it is relatively small but hey, it is better than nothing…
What medium(s) do you work in? Do you have a separate area for each? I work with Polymer clay so most of my studio is dedicated to working with POlymer clay and I have a dedicated table for clay.
Once in a while I make jewelry with my clay beads so instead of cleaning the clay table each time I located a beading table just for the beads
What one word would you use to describe your studio? small… tons of stuff, rarely organized and representative but it is my heaven, the place where I go when I need quit, relaxation. this is the only place in the house where no one in the house can go into before asking my pemission (I know I know.. this is mean when you have small children..)
What would you change if you could? If only I could i would make my studio larger (isn’t it any crafter’s dream?) LOL I need it larger for the workshops that I give (now I teach on the kitchen table) and for a bigger display…
Can you share an organizational tip? I wish I could… I admire organized people
Describe the usual state of your work table? messy messy.. tried to fight it once but then it hit me that it is actually inspiring. I start a new work, i find a cane left over from older project that I never put back to its place and never would have thought of using in the specific project that I now work on but,,, it is in my way… shall put it to storage or… well why not… I slice it and add it to the current work and sometimes, if I get lucky enough it adds aa extra something to the project that would have not be there otherwise
Does your work table face out into the room or toward the wall? since the room is very small my clay table faces the wall
Do you have an idea wall or inspiration board? not exactly… I have an Ikea lamp above my clay table that is made out of metal. I attach inspiration stuff to it with magnets..
Do you listen to music in your studio? What kind? the radio is always on in my studio even when I am not there. it is always on the same station - I love hearing discussion and opinions while I work
Do you display your own work in your studio? Other artists’ work? I display my own work in the studio until it is sold

Hi Libby,
Just wanted to let you know how much I’m enjoying this series! For some reason Naama’s really “clicked” with me……probably the disorganization parts!!!

Thanks Susan! It really is so interesting peeking into other artists’ studios. Naama’s work is so fabulous and it’s fun seeing her collection of canes in boxes and her very tidy clay storage.
I keep telling the artists who’ve responded to my “call” not to bother cleaning up. As other artists I think we often feel at home with the clutter of supplies and work in progress.

I really love these ‘peeks’ into the studios of other polymer clay artists. The mess really is a big part of the studio! There is always new stuff coming in that sits until stored, works in progress and stuff getting ready to go out the doors. Sometimes the chaos gets distracting for me instead of inspiring. That is when I know I need to take the time to clean it all up and start afresh!
