Polymer Clay is a synthetic modeling material which can be hardened by baking in an oven at approximately 275 degrees Fahrenheit. While Polymer Clay was originally viewed as a children’s craft material, artists worldwide have discovered its many uses as a fine art medium. Techniques commonly used in Polymer Clay Art borrow from a variety of other traditional art forms including sculpting, glasswork, metalwork and printing among others.

Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is a clay-like material that consists of microscopic fine silver particles suspended in a moist organic binder. PMC can be molded or rolled into different shapes and textures. After air drying, PMC is fired in a kiln at temperatures ranging from 1110 to 1650 degrees Fahrenheit where the binder burns off and the silver particles fuse together leaving a piece which is fine (.999) silver.

The name "Libzoid" comes from an ongoing joke in college. A couple of my friends in freshman year were familiar with the play, "The Bald Soprano" by Ionesco where all the characters called each other by the same name, "Bobby Watson". As a joke, everyone in the group started calling each other "Arnold", but somehow "Arnold" never fit me. One day, a friend started calling me “Libzoid”. That nickname didn't really stick at the time, but when I was trying to think of a name for my creative endeavors, "Libzoid" came out of the deep recesses of my memory. It seemed right somehow. The name makes me smile.
